Activities: EasyHikingTrekking

Explore the Old Muscat area from a different angle as we hike along an old pathway in the mountains that used to connect the town.

  • Trek on the highest mountain in the region at 2,000m.
  • Explore an abandoned village and learn about the local lifestyle.
  • Learn about the geology and history of the mountains in Oman.

With panoramic view of Oman’s ‘Grand Canyon’, this is an incredible adventure for all. The Balcony Walk hike is a light challenge, but the views are breathtaking. We follow the old route around the inside of Oman's own Grand Canyon towards the recently abandoned village of Sap Bani Khamis.
Above the village is a spring fed lake where we can have a refreshing dip if you wish, or just sit in the shade provided by the cave behind and enjoy the views over lunch. The route back is the reverse route so now we get those spectacular views from another angle. The gentle descent we enjoyed in the morning makes us work a little harder on the way back.
